I’ve been cleaning my room, and today I have decided to throw out this box and everything in it. I only just realised that it says ‘Essential’ on the box. I find it quite ironic, because inside this box is a lot of shiny things that I have spent the last 6 years thinking are essential to get through life. But they’re not. I don’t need them. I’ve gone over a month without them and I can sure as hell go a lot longer. I have my ways to cope, and I know now that hurting myself does not have to be one of them. I have never thrown out my ’tools’ before. I’ve gone months in the past without using them, but they’ve always been there, as a security blanket.. just in case I need it. But that’s the thing, I don’t need them, I don’t need to go back to that. I’m determined that I won’t. Hurting myself has only ever worked temporarily, and always put me in a worse off place in the long run. They’re no longer my security blanket, my security blanket is the people I love, who I can talk to when I’m sad and I understand now that it’s okay and they will listen- they want to listen.

Today is a happy day :)
